Praise for Being Rescued

The following is not inspired Scripture

For the Brethren.  A psalm of Samuel.

 1 Bless the Lord, o my soul, for great is His salvation;
   Rejoice and be glad, for the Lord of hosts fights for me.
2 He has delivered me from bondage,
    From the hand of those who dealt treacherously with me.
 3 When my enemies sought my life to destroy it,
    And my foes imagined evil against me without cause,
 4 When they perverted righteousness as wrong-doing
     And proclaimed transgressions to be good deeds,
 5 When they sought to pierce me with lies
    And counted the fruit of my hands amongst the spoils,
 6 Your lovingkindness did not forsake me
     And in truth You upheld my spirit.
 7 By Your prophets You made known to me Your ways
    That my feet would not stray from Your path.
 8 You sent Your angels to bind my wounds;
    You surrounded me with faithful friends.
 9 My adversary mocked me, saying,
    “See how I have crushed him with my little finger!
    Who is there to deliver him out of my hand?”
10 But the Lord God covered me in the shadow of His wings;
     His fortress around me was goodness and mercy.
11 In the deep darkness of His bosom He hid me from my oppressor
   That my enemies might be confused and that I might see His glory.
12 Great is the Lord of hosts, the Almighty, the King of heaven!
     He confounds the wicked with their own devices,
13 He causes the wisdom of fools to betray them.
     By death He conquers death;
14 No power can stand against Him.
     His blessings abound to those who love Him,
15 And His mercies to those who are called by His name.
     Therefore will I praise His name before the nations,
16 I will declare His glory in the assembly of the saints.
     I will lay my head down in peace
     And I will rise again in joy.
17 For the Holy One of Israel holds me in His hand;
     The God of Abraham is my champion.
