Psalm for Deliverance

The following is not inspired Scripture.

For the Brethren.  A psalm of Samuel.

¹ Rescue me, O Lord of Hosts;
  Come to my aid, O God Almighty;
² For the king has set his face against me,
And my protector has become my foe.
³ He has inclined his ear to false counsel,
And has received false witnesses against me.
⁴ He has blown away my faithfulness like chaff
And regarded my good deeds as dung.
⁵ My transgressions are many, O Lord,
And the oceans could not contain the ink to write my sins,
⁶ Yet it is for righteousness that I am condemned;
Because I spoke the truth, I am judged a liar.
⁷ My spirit is crushed within me,
For his foot weighs heavily on my neck.
⁸ His heart is fat with indignation,
His eyes are blinded by the shadows of traitors.
⁹ In pride he rejects wisdom and discretion;
He refuses sound counsel lest he be thought a fool.
¹⁰ He has lifted his fist against the Almighty,
In the name of the Lord of Hosts he has established his own throne.
¹¹ He declares, “It is I who make kings and destroy princes,
By my hand I establish justice and truth.
¹² Nothing is hidden from my sight;
Who can oppose my counsel?”
¹³ Deal with him according to your righteousness, O Lord God my Redeemer,
For you alone are king of heaven and earth.
¹⁴ Confuse the words of his mouth;
Let his curses be the prophesies of Balaam.
¹⁵ Cause the sickness of Nebuchadnezzar to fall upon him,
And may the judgment of Belshazzar be his end.
¹⁷ Lay waste to his kingdom and destroy his strong towers,
May the devastation of Amalek be his reward.
¹⁸ For he has set himself against you like the prince of Tyre,
He has hardened his heart to your word like Pharoah.
¹⁹ My companions have abandoned me,
And my brothers have betrayed me,
²⁰ But you, Lord God, are my shield and buckler;
The Lion of Judah will defend me.
²¹ The God of Joseph has seen my oppression,
And the God of Gideon will fight for me.
²² He who rules in Zion has spread his wings around me;
He has sent his Comforter to dwell within me.
²³ Though I be cast into the fire I will not fear
For my deliverer will not abandon me to my enemies.
²⁴ I will rejoice in my affliction that I might learn your precepts, O Lord,
I will give thanks in my oppression that I might know your peace;
²⁵ For you have given your angels charge over me,
You have sent your archangel to answer my prayer.
²⁶ The Lord my God is good and does good;
The God of Abraham keeps his promises to a thousand generations.
